The University of Gdańsk 

Foreign students can study at the University of Gdańsk either in the Polish or in the English language. The range of courses in Polish includes 69 fields of study (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree) and 200 specializations in 11 Faculties.

The University of Gdańsk offers the following fields of study conducted entirely in English:

Studying in Poland for foreign students

The following persons can undertake studies and participate in academic research and training sessions at the University of Gdańsk, on the same basis as Polish citizens:

• foreign citizens with a legally regulated residence status on the territory of the Republic of Poland (e.g. foreign citizens who have been granted the right to settle or who possess refugee status granted in the Republic of Poland);
• citizens of member states of the European Union, EFTA – parties to the European Economic Area Agreement - or the Swiss Confederation and members of their families possessing the right to permanent settlement, and foreign citizens possessing the so-called “Pole’s Charter”. These persons, however, do not have the right to social maintenance grants, special grants for handicapped persons, accommodation grants, or grants for food and assistance.

Other foreign citizens can study within the University’s regulations governing the numbers of foreign students:

• as holders of Polish grants or as holders of grants from their home country,
• by payment of fees as set by the Rector of the University of Gdańsk on the basis of the Higher Education Act of 27 July 2005, and on the basis of the directive of the Minister for Science and Higher Education of 12 October 2006,
• on the basis of international agreements, and on the principles outlined in these agreements,
• on the basis of agreements concluded with foreign institutions by the University, and on the principles outlined in these agreements,
• on the basis of a decision by the appropriate Minister for Higher Education, or another minister as appropriate.

The principles for undertaking studies, research and placements by foreign citizens are regulated by the Higher Education Act of 27 July 2005, and by the directive of the Minister for Science and Higher Education of 12 October 2006, in the matter of the undertaking and conducting of studies and training sessions by foreign citizens, together with their participation in scientific research and development work.
